What We do…

Lava x is designed to elevate student ideas to real startups

When accepted the lava network helps you make your company exactly what you want it to be. Lava X is designed around 3 main principles to help you quickly build to that success:

Curriculum, Technical Assistance - Lava X takes you through a six session program, designed to address some of the main things young entrepreneurs struggle with. The X program has industry professionals each week that will guide you in your efforts to create your investor deck, establish a clean cap table, and engineer a plan for growth. X also has partners that grant you access to the hottest new software, tons of free cloud storage, and many other exclusive benefits.

Mentorship - At Lava X, we know that the best thing for young founders, is to have a go to person to ask for help, whenever you might need it. As a member of X, you will have access to our extensive mentor network, full of LavaLab alums and other professionals in the LA tech world to help you through the process of starting up.

Space - Nothing gets you motivated to work like an environment where people have their nose to the grindstone. If accepted, you will be granted unparalleled access to square footage for your newest USC-based enterprise. Your startup will get access to desks, chairs, whiteboards and good lighting for you and your co founders, as you hack away, and prepare to make the jump into your next round of fundraising. Permanent workspace 25/8.

FAQ

What do we look for?

We look for well balanced teams that are passionate about their idea. We don’t require that your team has prior experience in the startup universe, but we want each team member to be a fit for their role. Above all else, we look for people that are excited about diving head first into their projects, intended to continue full time after graduation.

When can I apply?

Our applications are currently open! Go to the “Apply” section of our website to fill out a form and tell us about what you are building!

Does LavaX invest in its startups?

No. However, one of the central goals of LavaX is to prepare you for your first round of fundraising. We offer pitch deck and pitch coaching, mentorship to help you flush out your ideas, and have connections to law firms to make sure your first raise is legitimate. We are also plugged into the LA pre-seed/seed venture capital community through our mentor network, and these funds are extremely excited to meet our teams.

How does LavaX accept teams?

The lavaX vetting process starts after a team sends in an application. If we are interested, we will follow up with a phone call, and the process goes from there. Startups are brought in in batches, the first one starting Fall 2019!
